A kill switch should disconnect ALL circuits from electrical power. The 3 pole kill switch is the most straight forward way to do this. Typical 2 pole switch installations have 1 of 2 problems.
- The engine continues to run after the kill switch is turned off, or
- The alternator lead remains powered after the kill switch is turned off.
By isolating the battery from the alternator and from the car's electronics, this switch solves those issues in a simple way.
