MoTeC Engine Control Units (ECUs)

MoTeC M1 M130 ECU being tested on the bench

M1

The M1 is MoTeC’s newest ECU endeavor. It takes the configurability of MoTeC's traditional ECUs to a new level. Depending upon the license purchased, each ECU could potentially be a simple secure unit for a spec series up to something custom coded for a previously unimagined application.   It uses their latest technology including fast Ethernet download and direct injection all in a smaller form factor at a lower price.  We are especially excited about the new M1 Tune software.  Not only is the layout even better than before, but M1 Tune automatically records every channel in the configuration while a PC is connected.  This gives you the unprecedented ability to pause and rewind live data within M1 Tune!  Of course the file can also be saved for later review in i2.

MoTeC's Traditional Engine Control Units (ECUs)

MoTeC's traditional line of ECUs still set the benchmark for much of the industry. These offerings start at the lower end of premium units and range all the way up to true motorsports units. Those looking to control a street car or basic race car should strongly consider the cost effective M84, while those needing to control more advanced engine functions should look into the M400, M600, and M800. There are also plug and play kits for various car, motorcycle, PWC, and snowmobile applications.

M400, M600, M800

These ECUs are the current backbone of MoTeC's ECU line.  They offer everything you expect from a high end ECU including drive by wire, variable cam control (2 inlet and 2 exhaust cams), individual cylinder trims, boost control, flat shift, anti lag, and the best traction control we’ve seen in the aftermarket.  However, the beauty of MoTeC's ECUs is in its ability to be configured almost any way you can imagine and its internal logging.

The hundred series ECUs differ in the number of outputs provided.  The M400 is meant for 4 cylinder and 2 rotor applications, the M600 for 6 cylinder and 3 rotor applications, and the M800 for 8+ cylinders.  Spare injector and coil outputs can be used for auxiliary controls.

M400 - Base $4000, Typical $4900
M600 - Base $4500, Typical $5400
M800 - Base $5700, Typical $7100

Waterproof M400, M600, M800

These are functionally the same as the regular ECUs, except they have been fully potted and sealed.  Perfect for boats, watercraft, off-road vehicles and other harsh environments.

M400 - Base $4300, Typical $5200
M600 - Base $4800, Typical $5700
M800 - Base $5800, Typical $7200

M84

The M84 is a more affordable version of the M800.  It is for those looking for the advanced control, features, and logging of a MoTeC ECU, but don’t need the configurability of an M800.  It still offers individual cylinder trims, boost control, flat shift, anti lag, and traction control, but cannot control drive by wire or fully variable cams (VANOS or VTEC-like systems will work).  The base configuration includes logging and lambda control, and at $2200 offers incredible value.

Base $2200, Typical $2200

Plug and Play ECUs

MoTeC offers plug and play kits for certain applications.  The ECU will either come with a complete adapter harness or with the OEM connector already attached. Applications include –
